The Salvation Of Bela

Everyone have heard of Sodom and Gomorrah but not many remembers a place called Bela now known as Zoar. Bela was spared in the judgement of Sodom and Gomorrah.

T’was a little insignificant town on the outskirts of Sodom and Gomorrah. A quaint fertile little area destined to be burned due to its close proximity to Sodom and Gomorrah.

So Abraham scanned the mirage of the desert sands. In the heat of the day he saw the angels of the Lord approaching and invited them for brunch. Abraham and Sarah was old and had no children between them. The hope of their promise son was in limbo according to their expectation in the Word of God. Abraham selected a tender calf and instructed his servants to kill it and that Sarah would prepare a meal. It’s not funny but I’m thinking of the life of Jesus and the promises of God for my life. Laughing to myself somewhat like Abraham and Sarah did when told that their promised son would be born to them in their old age and according to the appointed time of life. Living the dream we say cynically. Is anything too hard for God?Everything thing in this life has an appointed time and season. A time to born and a time to die and then the resurrection.

In conversation Abraham learned of the the angels mission in response to the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah. He then respectfully bargained with the Lord for the salvation the righteous souls of Sodom and Gomorrah without ever mentioning the names of his kin folk, Lot and his family. Righteous by association and soul ties to the family of God through Abraham, Lot and his daughters were saved from judgement by fire. What if no one ever interceded the on our behalf for whatever the reason?

Too dangerous to stay and too old to run, Lot begged to be allowed to run to that little town not far from Sodom called Bela. Population unknown the fruit of the land was taisty. So the angels agreed showing mercy to the little town of Bela along with its in habitants on behalf of Lot’s family. For the sake of Abraham’s intercessions Bela and Lot was spared the judgement of Sodom and Gomorrah.

The moral of the story for believers is this. God will not destroy the righteous with the unrighteous. We have an advocate with God who didn’t just happens to be the Son of God. I love it when a plan comes together. Making intercession on our behalf despite of our close proximity to the sins of the world. Our home and our household is saved from the many judgements of an evil world. For that reason we pray one for another and are healed as well as our sins are forgiven. According to the bible, Jesus died in our stead and is now preparing a quaint little town in the Kingdoms of God for whosoever believes in His name. Jesus Christ Son of God.

Gen. 19:20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.

21 And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.
